The lens shown on pictures is the 1990 version with sliding aperture lock and rubber focusing ring, manufactured up to 2001.
This lens was made in Japan with serial numbers from 4000001 to 4307133 and in China with serial numbers from 4500001 to 4600507.
Two previous versions of the AF Nikkor 50mm f/1.8 lens were made from 1986 to 1990, with plastic focusing ring and with twist aperture lock.
First one with 210g has serial numbers from 2000001 to 2111308. The second one with 165g has serial numbers from 3000001 to 3238859.
By 2002 a newer lens, the AF Nikkor 50mm f/1.8 D, was released.
